Leading consulting group with a 360° approach
Climate change and rising population will further increase the stress on the limited fresh water resources that are available in Africa.
Efficient water and sanitation systems and infrastructure are essential if the future water and sanitation requirements of the region are to be met in accordance with UN’s Millennium Development Goals.
Sustainability in the use and protection of water resources has always been a key objective for COWI.
COWI in Africa provides consultancy services within all aspects of water sector development. We are engaged in interdisciplinary water and sanitation infrastructure and investment projects. We also advise on environmentally sound and financially viable solutions for rural communities, urban development and development and management of water resources.
We have many years of experience within planning, design, supervision and operations management of both new installations and rehabilitation of existing facilities including water supply, wastewater collection and treatment, irrigation structures and storm water management.
In Africa, COWI is presently working in water sector projects in more than ten countries in Western, Eastern and Southern Africa.
COWI has carried out a number of projects as part of a sub-Sahara initiative to respond to the impact of climate change on transport in Ethiopia, Mozambique and Ghana.
In Mozambique, COWI was recently appointed to provide flood risk assessments for Maputo.
