COWI Moçambique, Lda. is a Mozambican consultancy company, part of the COWI Group, which employs more than 6.000 professionals in 35 countries. In Mozambique, the company has more than 50 consultants, offering a combina- tion of in-country expertise and specialised international knowledge in the fields of economics, management, planning, environment, social research, water and engineering.

In 2015, COWI Mozambique received the ISO 9001:2008 Certificate regarding the Quality Management Systems Standard.

COWI was classified by KPMG’s annual survey of the top 100 companies in Mozambique as the 3rd best in 2015 and the 5th best in 2014. That year, COWI was also considered the company that made the best use of its resources.

The following are the main Services COWI Moçambique has to offer, amongst others, within the Departments:

Program Management and Technical Assistance Department (PMTA)

  • Design, planning, technical assistance and management of large governance programs, and in different areas of social and economic development.
  • Management of socioeconomic development support funds.
  • Technical assistance and managemnet of private sector support pro- grammes.
  • Technical assistance and management if Human Capital Developemnt and Institutional Capacity Building programs.

Social and Economic Studies Department (SES)

  • Social and Economic Studies: Baseline studies; social impact assessments; beneficiary assessments; strategic planning; resettlement design, implemen- tation and monitoring.
  • Territorial and Urban Planning: Elaboration of urban and land use plans, capacity building and institutional development.
  • Agriculture and Rural Development: Design, evaluation and management of projects, promotion of agribusiness, specialised studies.

Engineering, Environment and Water Department (EEW)

  • Engineering: Feasibility studies and detailed design (transport and water infrastructures), and supervision of civil construction works.
  • Environment: Impact assessments, feasibility studies, management plans, specialized studies, environmental education, monitoring and environmental health and safety audits.
  • Water and Sanitation: Water resources management, feasibility studies, design and supervision of hydraulic infrastructures (water supply, sanitation and others).
